Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms:

First Pres understands that some life situations create a need for pastoral presence and guidance, as well as a church environment. Please let us know if we can help. Contact Rev. Dr. Betsey Crimmins if you want to talk with a minister about one of these life events.

Weddings
A wedding is a sacred covenant in which a man and a woman commit themselves to each other before God, in the name of Christ, and for all the days of their lives.  We invite you to consider having your wedding at First Pres. Arrangements for weddings are made through the pastor, who can be reached by calling 607-734-1614.  Our aim is to make each wedding a joyful and beautiful event that gives honor to God and celebrates the commitment the couple makes in the wedding service.

Baptisms
Presbyterians practice both infant and adult baptism. No matter how young or old the person is, baptism unites the person with Jesus, bestows the gift of the Holy Spirit, is the sign and seal of the forgiveness of sins, and initiates the person into the family of faith which is the church.  Arrangements for baptisms are made through the pastor, who can be reached by calling 607-734-1614.

Funerals and Memorial Services
Each life is a gift from God. When a person passes from this life, we believe that it is vital to celebrate that life before God in the community of faith.  Funerals and memorial services give family and friends a sacred opportunity to gather before God to celebrate the person and to receive the comfort of faith in Jesus Christ.  Arrangements for funerals and memorial services are made through the pastor, who can be reached by calling 607-734-1614.

Holiday Services

Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve at First Pres is such a joy!  Our family friendly service delights people of all ages.  Music by our Chancel Choir and Brass Ensemble and traditional candlelighting express our joy in the Lord that Jesus is born!

Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent.  It is the traditional of First Pres to offer a simple soup supper (free) an hour before our Ash Wednesday Service.  The Sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated each Ash Wednesday.

Holy Week
Holy Week begins with a Palm Sunday celebration that remembers Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.  On Maundy Thursday of Holy Week, we again offer a simple soup supper (free) an hour before an evening worship service that always includes the Sacrament of Holy Communion, when we remember Jesus’ last supper with his disciples.

Easter Sunday
He is risen!  He is risen indeed!  Easter at First Pres includes inspiring music by our Brass Ensemble and Chancel Choir.  The resurrection of Jesus is the crux of our faith.  Come and worship!
