The Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers (DCJS) founded in 2010 by Dr. Baruch Whitehead, associate professor of music education at Ithaca College, is dedicated to the preservation of the "Negro Spirituals." This group of community singers, directed by Dr. Whitehead, was named in honor of current Ithaca resident Dorothy Cotton, civil rights pioneer and education director for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The DCJS perform at two semi-annual concerts, numerous community events throughout Chemung County and as part of formal programs at Ithaca College and Cornell University in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Black History Month. A freewill offering will be collected during the concert.

The Chicken Barbeque Dinner will start at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child (12 yrs & younger). Menu includes: Chicken, Hot Dogs, Hamburgers (veggie or meat), Pasta or Mixed Salad, Baked Beans, Chocolate Brownies, and Beverages. The dinner proceeds will benefit the First Pres Church Kitchen Renovation.
